Awards & Ambassadors

The World Triathlon Women’s Committee Award of Excellence (AOE) recognises individuals or organisations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing the participation, leadership, and visibility of women and girls across all levels of triathlon and para triathlon. Since 2012, this prestigious award has celebrated those who are creating real change through leadership, innovation, advocacy, and impact in the triathlon community. It’s a powerful opportunity to honour those making a lasting difference for women in our sport.

National Federations are invited to nominate an individual or organisation that has made a significant and meaningful contribution to advancing women’s involvement at all levels of triathlon and para triathlon. The AOE Selection Committee, including an external peer review panel, will assess each nominee’s relevant awards, honours, achievements in championing women in the sport, and the nominator’s endorsement.

This prestigious award celebrates leadership, creativity, and dedication to empowering women and girls in triathlon.

Since 2012, the World Triathlon Women’s Committee has proudly presented this annual award to individuals and organisations who serve as powerful role models and champions for women and youth in the sport. Each recipient has demonstrated how one person or one organisation can drive lasting, positive change within the triathlon community.

SheLovesTri is World Triathlon’s initiative to increase the visibility, participation and leadership of women and girls across the sport. This Ambassador Programme sets out the framework through which SheLovesTri Ambassadors are appointed, supported and engaged to advance that mission across the global, continental and national triathlon landscapes and beyond.

Purpose

The SheLovesTri Ambassador Programme identifies and supports a network of women connected to triathlon, whether as athletes, coaches, technical officials, administrators or community leaders, who are willing to act as visible role models and advocates for female participation in the sport of triathlon. Ambassadors extend the reach of SheLovesTri beyond World Triathlon’s own channels, into National Federations, schools, clubs and communities where role models have the greatest impact.

Objectives

• Increase the visibility of women’s participation and leadership across all levels of triathlon.
• Provide relatable role models for girls and women considering or new to the sport.
• Support National Federations and Continental Confederations in building local women’s programming.
• Generate authentic stories and content that reflect the diversity of women’s experiences in triathlon.
• Create a feedback channel between grassroots communities and World Triathlon on barriers to female participation.
